Dan’s Recovery Journey

Donation protected
I wanted to reach out and share some news about my brother, Dan, who is a dedicated Milwaukee Police Officer. On January 2nd, 2024, while bravely responding to calls for help related to a domestic violence situation, Dan's tactical team came under fire and he was shot in the line of duty. It was a terrifying ordeal for him and our family, but we're grateful that he is still with us today.

While his injury wasn't ultimately life-threatening, it will unfortunately be life-altering.

He sustained a broken femur and a nicked femoral artery has also caused some complications. He is recovering from his initial surgery and another surgery will be necessary in the coming days to further repair his injuries. We hope and pray that he will regain full mobility in his leg with time and his resilient spirit.

According to his medical team, Dan’s unwavering commitment to serving and protecting our community will be on hold for what they foresee as a year-long recovery time. A serious injury of this nature will require extensive rehabilitation that will prevent him and his wife, who is also a Milwaukee Police Officer, from returning to work for an extended period as she will be needed for his care.

For those who don't know, the timing of this is especially disheartening as the two of them recently suffered through multiple miscarriages in their longing to create a family (in addition to their retired K-9, Enox, who is anxiously awaiting their return home from the hospital). They had been planning and working toward Tiffany receiving one final intervention with a fertility specialist this month, but their priority has now had to shift to focusing on Dan's road to recovery.

As they face this journey together, Dan and Tiffany would be honored to have your support to help with any unforeseen challenges and expenses that will arise in the days, weeks and months to come as a result of his courageous actions . Dan risked his life for a family that faced great danger and in return we want to help provide a more hopeful way forward for his family, too. Thank you all for your support.
