Caring for Crawford

Donation protected

Crawford was born on Tuesday, April 13th at 33 weeks at USA Women's and Childrens in Mobile. He has since been transferred to UAB in Birmingham where he has undergone multiple surgeries, but remains stable as he continues to fight for his precious life.

Please consider donating to relieve the Lloyd family of expenses associated with an extended, out of town, NICU stay.

In the words of Crawford's Mom...

"As some of you may know, our family has experienced a lot of emotions within the last 5 months. In November, we announced our overwhelming excitement to welcome another baby boy. So much joy and happiness sharing that news with family and friends.. but shortly after our announcement we learned this pregnancy was not like the others.
At 15 weeks, Our baby boy was diagnosed with “LUTO” (Lower urinary tract obstruction) which ultimately impacts kidney functioning and amniotic fluid. At this time, we were referred to a high risk Dr who ultimately gave Zach and I the most devastating news expectant parents can hear. This baby was not expected to make it past 20 weeks. We were shattered, with overwhelming questions and concerns for his life and the never ending “whys” and “how could this happen to us.” But much to our surprise and the specialist... baby boy kept on growing for 5 more weeks, his heart beat remained stable. At this point, we were then put in touch with a Fetal surgeon at Texas Children’s Hospital who could perform a surgery (placing a shunt in baby’s bladder) to temporarily fix this blockage until birth. So, that’s what we did for the next 2 weeks. It was so successful, we were sent home full of hope and praising God for our miracle baby!
That was about 10 weeks ago. Since then, baby has been doing so well and growing! But now, at 32 weeks, we learned the shunt has been displaced and the fluid around our baby was dropping drastically. So.. this past week, back to Texas I went for another shunt procedure. However, it has not been as successful this time around. Doctors will attempt another shunt placement for the 3rd time on Monday morning to hopefully relieve pressure. We are praying it will stay put just another few weeks so baby can continue to grow and mature (which is critical for his kidneys and birth weight). This will give me the option to head home to Zach and my babies. However, if it doesn’t...then Doctors will continue to monitor him, inject fluid in the right places and draw fluid from the wrong places... meaning I’ll be in the hospital for weeks.
I am ready to fight for this child’s life. Please please pray we have a successful procedure tomorrow. Pray for peace and God’s will to be done. This entire process is very complex and fragile and baby boy will have a long road after birth. There is no way I could explain every detail, which is why I’ve been “social media silent” for so long. I’m SO thankful my mom is here in TX with me now, while Zach (my amazing and wonderful hubby) is maintaining our household and some sort of “normal” for our babies at home. And unbelievably thankful Goldie (Sharon Bonnell) is there to assist. It has been really hard being away from them this Easter, but I am filled with peace because my God is good! He is risen!
We look forward to the day we get to meet our precious boy - Crawford Lambert Lloyd, until then, we keep fighting."
