Femspec is a volunteer-run, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal that develops communities by speculating, theorizing, creating, and questioning gender across boundaries, including issues of sexual orientation.
As a journal, we seek to amplify diverse voices, and are proud that this is reflected in our editorial board. As a journal, we have published special issues on Afrofuturism, race and culture, and age in science fiction, as well as articles on Indigenous, disability, and Latina writings in science fiction. We create other channels for intellectual development by hosting workshops and symposiums, and amplify a diverse array of contributors’ voices with our blogs.
Our work is to sustain an open and supportive channel for challenges to gender through speculative means, and as such, we want to keep the journal and other platforms alive and publishing.
We seek the support of our communities to be able to continue printing and mailing the journal as well as to widen our reach through advertising, multiple platform maintenance efforts, and conference exhibitions.
Your donations will help us continue to hold space for exploration of gender, identity, and sexual orientation as expressed in fantasy, science fiction, magical realism, and other speculative genres.
