Service Dog for Aidan
Donation protected
Aidan is a creative, hilarious, sensitive, bright 13 year old boy who has invisible disabilities. He has severe anxiety, depression, PANDAS, ADHD, Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, OCD, Tourette Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, agoraphobia, and learning disabilities. Aidan’s life is greatly impacted by his disabilities. He attends a therapeutic day school an hour from our home because he is unable to attend his regular public school. He is unable to participate in most family outings because of his anxiety. “Regular” life is extremely challenging for him. Things most of us take for granted are exceptionally difficult for Aidan.
Aidan’s therapist recommended that we look into getting a psychiatric service dog for him. We immediately realized what a fantastic idea this would be, because Aidan has such a special bond with animals. We know it would open up a whole new world of possibilities for our boy. If Aidan had a service dog, it would help him get out of bed in the morning. He would be willing to go out with the rest of the family, to a restaurant or to get ice cream, or to Grandma’s house. He would be able to handle riding the school bus and attending school. He would have an amazing tool to help him handle his stress at the orthodontist and doctor. He would be able to participate when we go on trips, and not completely shut down. His whole world would change!
The cost of a service dog can be anywhere between $0-$45,000. The facility must breed the dog, board and feed the dog, and most importantly train the dog. We know a service dog will change Aidan’s entire life, so we are committed to doing whatever it takes. Our greatest hope is that Aidan can be happy and healthy, and participate fully in life.
We truly appreciate any donation that is offered. Please know you are changing one boy’s life forever. “Thank you” is simply not big enough, but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
