HELP LEONIDAS

To all who have felt it in their hearts to hear my sons story thank you. To those who are able to help God bless you.

My name is Aron Gonzalez my wife's name is Priscilla Gonzalez. We are raising funds for my son. His name is Leonidas Luke Gonzalez. He was born with many health issues, some require surgical treatment. Leonidas was born tetrology of fallo, a large VSD, multiple holes in his heart, and Complete Digeorge Syndrome.

Before Leo was born we were told that he could go home after birth and return for heart surgery in 6 months.

Because of his heart condition he had trouble breathing and finishing his bottle of formula. Leo's heart condition was causing his oxygenated blood to recirculate to his lungs causing fluids to build. He would get out of breath and tire himself out. It was then that the Doctor decided to tube feed our son using a NJ tube to feed him.

At two months my son had surgery to fix his heart, everything went great, Dr. McDonald who did the surgery told us he wouldn't need surgery again on his heart. The bad news was he verified that my son had no thymus.

We found out prior to the surgery (at two weeks old) that our son had no immune system and that he probably didn't have a thymus gland, which the doctor confirmed.

It was then (2018) that he was placed on a thymus transplant list in Duke University.

He spent 6 months in the NICU after being born full term naturally at Valley Children's Hospital before we decided it was best to bring him home.

Since November 2018 we have did our best to keep him from getting sick. We have been an isolated family. Our children learned that they had to be very careful and not get sick or bring any viruses home.

It is now 2022 and after four years of waiting Leo has been called to get his surgery for his thymus. In order to get to Duke we need to fly over there which is a 35,000 dollar cost for a one way trip. AeroAngel has offered to fly us there.

My family has been through a lot, but my son Leonidas has been a warrior. He has inspired us all to be strong.

The funds will be for our travel expenses to and from Duke University.
