Latrenda goes to Grad School

Hi,

My name is Latrenda. I have been accepted into Grad School at CSU Stanislaus's MSW Program. I am a "single, single" mother of three. What this means is, that I do not have much support. I am the provider and caretaker for my children, alone. There is no grandmother. There is no grandfather. There is no father there to pick me up when I fall.

Grad School is important to me because I am passionate about being a pillar for others. I also want to break the cycle of poverty for my children and provide them with a unique life experience. Motherhood is an emotional task and my love for my children is beyond words. There are mostly just tears because I weep for them, knowing that this world can be unwelcoming and taxing on their mental health. My MSW will go a long way in supporting us financially and developmentally. I see an MSW as my golden ticket, to unlock numerous possibilities and expand on my other interests. These interests include becoming an author, published poet, contracted Doula and expanding in creativity.

I am a woman of integrity. These funds will be used to remove barriers to my education and be utilized for success in the program. I am more than happy to keep people updated on my progress and send photos and grades. I'd love to include you in my journey.

I have a Bachelor's in Human Development. I have worked with children with disabilities, transition-aged youth and adults. I have a wide range of experience supporting others toward their wellness, housing, education or employment goals. I recently received a provisional doula certification with Shafia Monroe Consulting. I am also on track to receive a certification in Chemical Dependency from Cal State East Bay. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
