Hollie Shute - Camps International Kenya 2024

Donation protected
In 2024, I am off to Kenya for 4 weeks. This expedition to Kenya offers a blend of project work, adventure and cultural immersion, with itineraries carefully designed to create life-changing experiences and meaningful, lasting impact – for me and for the people and places they visit.

Life on expedition will place me in situations that cannot be replicated in the classroom or at home. Challenging myself to take on new adventures outside my comfort zone which will build confidence and resilience, allowing to shape my identity as well as gaining a greater understanding of the wider world.

Working alongside local people on sustainable projects providing a unique opportunity to integrate with new cultures, speak new languages, make new and lasting friendships and improve my leadership and team-working skills.

I will experience the warm and welcoming culture that Kenya is famous for on this immersive expedition. Spending my days working on sustainable projects with local people, helping to support the local community, wildlife and environment.

Getting to know the inspiring Mamas of the local village who will teach me traditional skills, meeting the world-famous Maasai Tribe and experience the magic of a safari at Tsavo East National Park – one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations.

Many local schools are in very dilapidated buildings which suffer from erosion and seasonal flooding. I’ll be helping to build or renovate school buildings so that local children have a clean and safe academic environment. Will also get involved in initiatives to promote a peaceful co-existence between the community and the local wildlife, such as improving natural waterholes and planting indigenous trees for habitat and food sources.

Embarking on an adventure with real impact on one of East Africa’s most amazing destinations. Living and working alongside local people and getting involved in a range of sustainable projects, from community development to environmental conservation.

I will be working on a range of projects throughout my expedition, each aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region’s most critical issues.

Fundraising is a hugely valuable part of the expedition journey, and helps develop important skills for life, such as planning, negotiating and managing a budget.

This is definitely going to be a challenge, but the satisfaction of knowing I’ve earned my way to the adventure is worth every second.

It would be wonderful if you are able to support in some way. Watch this space for my fundraising efforts coming soon…..
