Reusable COVID-19 3D Printed Face Shields

Front-line workers are in need of critical PPE
Face shields are critical in the fight against infectious disease: they shield eyes (an infection vector) and help to extend the lives of N95 masks by shielding them from direct droplet flow. Unfortunately, personal shields are in short supply and usually designed to be disposable. Because of this, medical professionals are either going without shields or using disposable shields long past their life expectancy.
Due to massive global need for this equipment, it’s likely that the shortage will get worse before it gets better. Did you know every Corona Virus patient will require, on average 19 disposable face shields, therefore, providers need durable, reusable equipment that can last the length of this outbreak.
Our solution is to print reusable face shield consisting of a 3D printed frame, a clear face shield, a piece of foam tape, and an off-the-shelf elastic strapping. The clear face shields can be removed and replaced in less than 30 seconds.
We have already delivered part of our committed 100 free face shields to local front-line key workers including Doctors, Nurses, Care Workers, however, we are being inundated from front-line workers to provide more face shields.
The money raised will pay for the cost of printing materials such as filaments, clear face shield, elastic strap and foam protection. We will continue to provide free engineering resource for the manufacturing and build of the face shields.
£800 target allows to build a further 100 face shields to distribute to the local community, any money left over will be donated to some of the great NHS charities in the area including mental health and wellbeing?
