Love for Shakera

Hi, I am Shakera Franklin. In May of 2013 I was diagnosed with B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system. I was just 14 and my life was changed forever. From the very beginning my mother has been my strength and my support system. She is a single parent and had to quit her job of 12 years to take care of me. In that time our lives have taken us through countless bouts of chemo and radiation therapy. We have spent nights on end at Palmetto Health Richland Children’s hospital. My mother has lost her car and has gone long periods of time without her phone. But I have never missed an appointment. I have never gone without anything I want. She has sacrificed everything to make sure I am cared for. Just recently we found out that my cancer may have spread and my doctors have decided that I may get better treatment in Atlanta. My mom and I need a car and monies for travel back and forth to maintain my treatments in a new clinical study. She is also still responsible for paying rent and all of our utilities in our ever so humble home. Our faith in God is forever strong and unchanging. We always speak from a place of victory. God has graced my mother and myself to endure this journey. I thank you in advance for supporting me and my mother. We are forever grateful for the blessings that flow from your heart to ours. My God’s grace, mercy and unmerited favor flood and reign in your life forever.
