Baby Leo's Medical Fund
Donation protected
Leo Miller, my nephew, is an adorable little guy who has had a rough start in life. My sister Mandy is a first-grade teacher in the Jimtown school system, and her husband Bret is an electrician. They are wonderful parents, and do well to provide for themselves and their son. Mandy and Bret are very hardworking individuals, but are also extremely humble and don’t tend to ask others for help, even when they need it most. Because of this, I am using this platform to reach out to their family, friends, coworkers, and any other kind-hearted individuals who want to help these deserving parents have one less thing to worry about in their time of hardship.
At just 3 months old on October 12, Leo started having seizures at home. After being evaluated at a local hospital in Elkhart and finding some abnormalities on his CT scan, he was transported via ambulance to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was admitted to Riley and stayed for a total of 10 days. Throughout his stay, extensive tests were performed which revealed a congenital abnormality in his brain, among other issues. In addition to having more seizure activity, Leo was also struggling with eating and had episodes where he stopped breathing.
The medical team was wonderful, and baby Leo was eventually stable enough to go home. The medication that was started in the hospital for his seizures has helped some, but he has continued to have episodes since being back at home. Because of this and his congenital brain abnormality, the doctors’ visits and hospital admissions will likely continue in the future.
Between the 160-mile ambulance transport, 10-day stay in the hospital (part of which was in the ICU), countless tests and scans, and inevitable future expenses that will arise from his condition, my sister and her family need your support. Any small donation will help this deserving family, and is greatly appreciated. All funds raised will be given to Mandy and Bret to help their family face these financial challenges, and hopefully allow them to more easily focus on Leo and his needs. My sister has supported me throughout my entire life, so I am asking you, with your generous donation, to help me support her in her time of need.
My family and I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you, whether you are able to make a donation, share this story, or keep Leo in your thoughts and prayers.
