A cause I care about needs help. Final Phase

Want to join me in making a difference?

We are raising money for COWICHAN VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. The Society relies solely on donations and occasional grants to maintain operations. The Society has no paid staff and is run completely by volunteers. All donations go directly to the Society. Thank you for your support.
The Society owns and operates a mountain top radio repeater site that serves the entire Cowichan Valley providing auxiliary communications services. These capabilities provide vital links to citizens and response organizations should a significant event occur in the area.

This site runs solely on batteries and solar panels. The batteries and charge control system have passed their useful life and failed during the winter of 2019 causing significant outages.

The cost to replace batteries and solar controllers  was approximately $25,000

Access to the mountain top site is limited to less than half the year due to snow and fire hazard situations.

Much of the funding has already been raised and work has begun on the upgrades.

We have completed a replacement of all the batteries (done in three banks).  The mountain site should once again be stable throughout the winter months.

We are now in the final phase. Four of the solar panels will need to be replaced as they are shorting to the frame and have now been disconnected.

Please hep out the society with your tax deductible donation so we can keep this important communications service running this winter.  Your donation to assist with this project would be greatly appreciated.
