Yahav's HIAS Bar Mitzvah Fundraiser
Tax deductible
In Judaism we have a tradition of "Tikun Olam," which translates to "Fixing the World." It is considered a "Mitzvah," which translates to "Good Deed," to undertake acts that make the world a better place.
To celebrate my Bar Mitzvah, I will be biking 36 miles (18 is a special number in Judaism as it also means "life," but 18 miles would not be a challenge) to raise funds for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS).
Please donate what you are able ($18 for $0.50 p/mile, $36 for $1 p/mile, etc.) in order to help refugees rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
HIAS began in 1881 to help Jews fleeing Russia and Eastern Europe. Today HIAS works around the world to protect refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands because of who they are, including ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities.
