Yakety Sax at Ottawa City Hall
Donation protected
Let's keep this simple: if you're looking at this you probably already know why we need to play 'Yakety Sax' (famously known as the Benny Hill theme), outside Ottawa City Hall for the Council meeting scheduled for Feb 22, 2023. That the meeting will include the new budget only adds to the necessity for this zany musical leitmotif.
The plan is to bring a live group to accompany the opening of the meeting.
Funds will be used for:
1. Pay the musicians - they deserve a good wage and I'm told that the cost for such a gig for four musicians and their gear is in the range of $400-600. They also need to practice those blistering sax licks in advance and get there (gas is expensive)
2. Any permits and paperwork required to facilitate Yakety Sax performances outside City Hall
3. Any excess funds raised will be donated to Highjinx Ottawa to support their amazing work in the community
4. If for some reason this even proves impossible to organize/permit/cancelled etc, all funds raised will be donated to Highjinx Ottawa.
As the event will take place in a public space you are all welcome to attend whether you have donated or not. Be there or be square!
