Yale Gospel Choir's Savannah Spring Tour 2025
Donation protected
Founded in 1973 - over 50 years ago - the Yale Undergraduate Gospel Choir (YGC) maintains an enthusiastic, dedicated membership of approximately 50 singers and musicians, operating with the mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. We fulfill this mission through performances at Yale, the New Haven area, and elsewhere during our annual Spring Tour. In years past, we've traveled to Japan, India, Jamaica, New Orleans, Canada, Costa Rica, and many more!
Our Spring Tour, a vital part of YGC’s purpose, allows us to take our song beyond New Haven. During our Spring Break, over 20 choir members will be traveling to Savannah, Georgia for approximately 10 days. Our goal is to show love not only in the words that we say or sing, but also to serve the communities we visit. Because Savannah is a city rich with African American History and Culture we are especially excited to learn about the history of the area. Thus, we will be focusing on engaging with local communities through performing and volunteering at churches, schools, homeless shelters, nursing homes, and many other locations. We are eager to form meaningful connections with people & organizations that we can continue to support in the future.
YGC is very grateful to all the support that organizations and individuals have shown to us in the past! We are hoping to make this tour as impactful as possible. Therefore, over the next few months we will be raising approximately $35,000 to cover airfare, transportation, lodging, and food. Our hope is that, with the help of our families, friends, church communities, and loved ones, we can raise $15,000 for this amazing opportunity.
