Yammy's Ocular Prosthesis Surgery
Donation protected
My baby sister, godmother to my first born child and a young woman who would take off the shirt on her back to help other.....33yrs old, was a happy go lucky young woman, in the process of planning her wedding. She is in charge of overseeing garbage disposal at her work place, among other duties. Unfortunately being born in a poverty stricken African country, safety glasses don't come with the job. Some ignorant person threw an inhaler tube in the garbage. (Garbage is disposed of in a bornfire), needless to say this inhaler blew up and hit my sister directly in the eye, cutting right across her entire eye. Her beautiful smile has been rare since then and constantly battles with depressions, the wedding has been put on hold. The surgeon were unable to save the eye and she needs surgery to replace it with a glass eye, which can only be performed outside the country. The whole family has been trying to raise funds for this surgery, but have limited resources in a very poor country where everyone strives to make ends meet. I ran my first marathon in 2017 and have being training to run in 2018, being a runner, I have decided to run several marathons this year as part of a fundraising effort for Yammy's eye operation, so she may feel whole again and get her life back. I have trained and will be running 4 marathons this year. WOODY RV WORLD RED DEER (May)http://www.reddeermarathon.ca SASKATOON MARATHON (May) http://saskmarathon.ca
