Yandy Chirino was one of the most welcoming, thoughtful, and happy souls we have ever encountered. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He was born on March 14, 1993 in Havana, Cuba, migrated to Miami, Florida as a young child with his parents and became a US citizen at 10 years old.
Yandy graduated from Coral Park High school in 2011 and went on to study criminal Justice at FIU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree, in 2015. He was an MVP athlete who played volleyball, soccer, baseball, and basketball.
Yandy began his dream of becoming a police officer with the Hollywood Police Department in 2017. He served the Hollywood Police with pride and professionalism, and had an incredible work ethic! On October 17th 2021 at around 1030 pm, Yandy made the ultimate sacrifice and died protecting the city of Hollywood in an attempt to apprehend a criminal. Yandy was only 28 years old and is survived by his mom, dad, sister, 2 nephews, girl friend, friends, and all of his brothers and sisters at the Hollywood Police Department.
We love and will miss Yandy dearly!
