Yang Yang Liu - Wharton Women in Media Fund
Spende geschützt
Our beloved colleague Yang Yang Liu tragically passed away on November 26th, 2021. A semi-dedicated runner, Yang Yang was out for her morning jog when she was struck by a car. She passed from her injuries at the scene. Yang Yang is survived by her husband, Joe, her parents, and her two dogs.
Yang Yang knew from an early age that she wanted to build a career in media, an area that she was fervently passionate about. Though she started her professional journey in finance, she applied her characteristic determination and grit, eventually working as the lead Strategist at Freeform, and later as a Senior Manager of Content Strategy at Amazon Studios. Those of us that knew her well saw these positions as mere pit stops on the way to a long and prominent career in the industry.
It's difficult to express the impact that Yang Yang had on her colleagues. Put simply, she was a force. Her passion was infectious, and she moved mountains to execute her vision and that of her stakeholders. She will be remembered as brilliant, kind, generous, disarmingly witty, and fiercely dedicated. Her passing leaves a tremendous void, and we will not be the same without her.
To honor her memory, Yang Yang's family has asked for donations to cover funeral expenses and seed the creation of a fund in her honor at The Wharton School, where Yang Yang received her graduate degree in business. The fund will go towards advancing the careers of women in the media space, and ensure Yang Yang's legacy continues for years to come.
