Yasbirat Ytatek

My name is Mitsilal Weldahaimanot, family friend of Yasbirat Ytatek. Yasbirat was involved in a tragic and fatal accident on Tuesday night, July 26, 2022. We are creating this gofundme to support the family with funeral costs, rent, food and childcare. The dad ( Habtamu Hailu Woldemariam) and mom ( Zebenay Tessama) are both off work during this tragic time and need our support with household costs and the funeral.

Yasbirat was a phenomenal person and will be missed by many people. He was an amazing rugby and soccer player. He was awarded player of the month for his soccer club team in March and recently made the Burnaby District Metro Soccer Men's team, which is a big accomplishment.

Yasbit was entering his final year of high school in September and was a great role model for his younger siblings and community members. Yasbirat had 4 siblings, all of them younger than him. The family is new to Canada, from Ethiopia, and is well connected within the community of Edmonds. The parents are such caring and supportive individuals who are understandably heartbroken and experiencing unspeakable grief and loss. Neither of his parents is able to work after suffering from this tragedy so we are reaching out to the community to help support the family.
