Help Support the Esmail Family

On Friday, April 14th, 2023, on an auspicious day during the holy month of Ramadan, our beloved family member Yasin Esmail passed away after a long, perilous battle against cancer at the age of 47 years old. Yasin was a caring, intelligent man who touched the lives of those around him. He is survived by his loving wife, Yasmin Esmail and daughters Safiya (17) and Insiya (15), who were his biggest supporters.

In 2019, Yasin was given a shocking diagnosis of a very fatal and aggressive disease -- pancreatic cancer. This cancer is amongst the hardest to detect and has one of the lowest survival rates. The doctors gave him a 12-month prognosis and he began a bi-weekly regimen of chemo and radiation therapy. A deeply spiritual individual and devout Muslim, Yasin believed in fighting until his very last breath.

Yasin's battle with cancer will be remembered as nothing short of extraordinary. Defying all odds, Yasin was able to survive for 4 years with the disease. Some of the miracles of his journey are that Yasin completed Hajj in late 2022 and kept his job until his very last day. His will to fight and stay alive for his wife, children, and family, is a lasting inspiration and lesson for all of us.

The outpouring of love and support has been remarkable. With many asking how to help, we put together this fundraiser as a way to channel that support to the Esmail family. Funds will be used to pay outstanding healthcare bills and funeral costs. Every message, phone call, prayer, and help from friends and family has been so deeply appreciated. The Esmail family is forever grateful to be remembered in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
