Yasmin Shabazz's Funeral and Children Fund
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jalesa Lewis, I am from Ohio and I am close friends with Karimah, Yasmin's younger sister. Karimah and I went to grad school together. I created this GoFundMe Campaign to raise funds for Yasmin's funeral expenses and for expenses to support her 3 children. These expenses include, but are not limited to, food, clothing, housing and other necessities like childcare and school.
Yasmin Shabazz, 29, single mother of 3 beautiful children ages 10, 7, and 4, fell victim to domestic violence and was murdered on January 25, 2019 in Savannah, Georgia. Yasmin was a loving mother who worked tirelessly to support her children, having just began her new job as a Corrections Officer at Coastal State Prison and was excited to be taking what she believed would be an important step in gaining financial independence and freedom from what would become a fatal relationship.
Due to the brevity of Yasmin's employment, financial assistance is unavailable. Her 3 children, now in the care of their grandmother have to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia and are in urgent need of a permanent place to live. Please help the Shabazz family with funeral expenses and support for housing, food, and clothing for Yasmin's 3 children.
Yasmin Shabazz was born in Queens, New York and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She attended Redan High School and participated in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC). Yasmin has worked as a Security Officer at the Georgia World Congress Center and a Corrections Officer with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office. Yasmin had aspirations of becoming a Police Officer one day. Yasmin was a mom, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a niece and meant so much to her family and friends. She will be missed and she will forever be loved.
