Dear friends and supporters,


As all of you know, I've seen many changes, including two moves in less than a year, and the loss of my beloved Toby .


I currently live in donated housing on a temporary basis and have managed, in all the chaos, to remain hugely productive in my writing.  Most recently, my pieces, "The Secret History of Gay Marriage " and “Your Sex Is Not Radical ” went viral and I was featured in several media outlets. The latter even allowed me to fulfil my lifelong dream of appearing in Playboy . My subscription plan has been steadily picking up, and I've made excellent progress on my book prospects.


However, all of  this work was sustained on older computers gifted to me by generous friends. For the last year, I've worked on steadily deteriorating computers. For the last month or so, I have been struggling to get work done on my Ipad, also a very generous donation from a friend.  The Ipad was an excellent supplementary tool as long as I had a working computer but it cannot function as the primary tool.


 This is part of the reality for those of us who choose to earn our living as writers, and until we see significant structural changes in the attitudes towards writing as a profession (which I've writen about often ), people like me have to depend on such campaigns to fund our basic needs.

As a professional writer, my livelihood depends on my having a reliable, steady computer. I also need to be able to upload audio files, etc, as part of my subscription plan, which I have not been able to do because of the limitations of aging computers.


I would like to take the plunge and buy a new computer system which will last longer and allow me to do the work I need to do.


I'm asking for $2500 which will help me get the system I need, along with necessary accessories.  This amount will also cover the fees paid to GoFundMe.

It’s Toby’s photo that graces this campaign: that’s him at my laptop, agitated at the misuse of the em-dash.  I can only begin to emulate his fierceness while writing.
