Hi, my name is Greg Wimberly. On Friday night November 10th, my family and I had our lives shattered when a fire engulfed our apartment at The Reserve at LaVista Walk Complex in Atlanta. We had to evacuate with what we could carry. Now that the initial shock is over, we are left to pick up the pieces of our life.
My beautiful wife, Christine, is a French Teacher at The Quadrilingual Academy. My youngest daughter Zoriana, who was home with us when the fire occurred, is a Junior at North Atlanta High School. Our oldest daughter, Malena, is a sophomore in college at Penn State University and has not yet seen the devastation in person. She’s coming home for Thanksgiving, and it’s our goal to find a place for us to call “home” before she arrives.
The entire apartment complex with 284 units has been condemned. Christine and I are asking for your help gaining temporary housing and other essentials. We’ve been able to get some of our possessions, but many in the complex were not so lucky. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
If you want to help other apartment fire victims, Atlanta 11 Alive has verified victims shared here (we’re included).
Here’s a drone video of the devastation: https://www.tiktok.com/@thedronegoat/video/7300615788791106862
