David A. Conrad Scholarship

The David A. Conrad Scholarship is currently a $2,000 college scholarship awarded in the Spring, in memory of David. Sadly, at 21 years of age on March 19, 2013, David was taken from his family in a tragic accident, 10 years ago.

David was an outstanding student at Downers Grove South High School. He was a dedicated athlete, was on the swim team, played soccer, and was also on the debate team. Throughout High School, David received support through the special services department. He had an outstanding memory and his knowledge of history and politics was uncanny. David approached every challenge with a positive attitude and always treated his classmates with unending kindness. He was a person who accepted and enjoyed every person for their unique qualities. He truly had a heart of gold. After High School, David was determined to attend college, and he did. During his senior year, David received the Downers Grove Women's Club scholarship for $500 and went on to attend COD. David's family created the David A. Conrad Scholarship to be awarded to individuals who demonstrate the same determination, character, and perseverance that David did in the classroom and throughout his life.

The Conrad Family has provided scholarships to students, just like David, but would like to expand. Currently, Special Education Scholarships are not readily available. We want this scholarship to touch more lives, specifically students like David. We want these students to experience the growth and accomplishments that the regular student population has access to.

A student who currently receives special education services and would like to further their growth as a student by attending college, trade school, etc., is eligible for this scholarship. In 2022, the funds raised provided six students with $1,000 in scholarships. Please consider contributing to this fund to help us continue to touch more students' lives.
