Seagrape Apothecary is more than a place to pick up your favorite soap or candle, it’s a space where self-care is put into motion and celebrated, community is built, and friends are made.
We pride ourselves on creating a space that makes people relax when they walk in the door - it’s a container where you can whisper your deepest desires and we can help you find a product or friend to make it happen!
The Seagrape Team showed up on Sunday February 23rd to find that the shop had been broken into & trashed. After assessing the damages we have lost approximately $10,000 between stolen merchandise, cash, computers, register, hard drives, and other integral parts of running this business. We’re so thankful that all the staff are ok - and that most things can be replaced.
However, we need your help to raise funds to help us restore our shop to it’s best capabilities. We are in the process of filing insurance reports, but at this time - they aren’t covering 80% percent of our loss. From the confusing process of the back and forth it seems like it can take several months to get any answers (the police report can take up to 6 weeks to obtain!). As frustrating as this is we are confident that this amazing community will help us through this difficult time.
We have also heard from a number of other small business owners in the area that their spaces have been broken into several times and the police aren't helping apprehend the perpetrators who seem to be using the same tactic to gain entry and steal the same types of things. At this point it's hard to say what kind of help we can expect to get from the folks in charge of the case .
It is hard to ask for help - but we are leaning into our amazing Seagrape community for support. We know we can get through this, but it will be a Seagrape family effort. If you can, please take a moment to help us recoup after this violation.
All funds will be used to replace the following stolen items, and purchase new additions to help us enhance our safety and security.
square register system $800 ✔ (re-purchased!)
Cash drawer $250 ✔ (re-purchased!)
Refurbished laptop + warranty $1300

A note from Maria:
When I opened this sweet shop five years ago it was meant to be my studio space, but I quickly realized that the shop was there for the community. For you sweet friend, for learning, and for magical tools to help us in everyday life. As I grew the shop baby step by baby step investing all the profits back into it to make it run- without any capital or investments available to me, the heart and soul poured into it was felt and reflected back to me. I showed up to work everyday fueled by the babes that came in to share their lives with me and forge the bond of community. Even when there weren’t funds, there was always the magic of the interactions- potent medicine in and of itself.
Showing up to a broken into shop on Sunday morning with Becky and Iris completely shocked and devastated at the chaos, mess, and destruction was heartbreaking. The feeling of panic and anxiety at the violation of someone breaking in to steal the beautiful medicine I’ve worked so hard to cultivate and supply was overwhelming.
I feel uncomfortable asking for help. As an immigrant and someone who grew up in New York I am used to the hustle. To be completely honest coming up with 10K to heal and repair the damage caused by the break in on my own is totally overwhelming so I am asking my community for the support Seagrape needs right now.
We need at least $5,000 to re-purchase all the technology we lost as well as the ten years or design work and art that disappeared with the 2 hard drives stolen from us. We need help re-purchasing the stolen medicine and inventory so the witches and artists we work with can get paid. We need help clearing and securing the shop after this violation.
Thank you for your time and all the love you’ve sent my way during this stressful time. I would be completely lost without all of you chiming in to surround me with love. You are a loving reminder of why this work matters and why I show up joyously in my work every day.
Please donate to help us raise the necessary funds, and if that is not possible at this time please help us spread the word on social media so we can recover and get back to the magic of Seagrape.
With so much love and gratitude,
