Single Mother of 2 Struck by Semi

Hi, my name is Katie … I am fundraising on behalf of my sister, a single mother of two. Early Tuesday morning after dropping her daughter off at school she was struck by a Semi. Emily is currently awaiting surgery in the ICU. Her lung has been re-inflated upon arrival - is able to breathe with machine, all left ribs fractured, fractured left hand. We were told she has a severe brain injury, but that it doesn’t necessarily mean brain damage at this time, she is being monitored for her brain bleed/bruising. Her organs do have puncture wounds and internal bleeding. Based on her pelvis X-ray, she will need several surgeries and prayers that she will be able to walk again. She does have a rod through and through to help pull her leg away from missing/broken areas. Treatment is going be extensive. Her children, River, 8 and Kaia, 6 are unfortunately not able to see her during this time. While this is confusing enough for them to process, we ask that you please help so we can keep their home life as stable and normal as possible for Emily's rehabilitation back to her new normal.
