The Manzo Family

September 30, 2019 was a tragic day for the Manzo family. Rafael Manzo passed away unexpectedly from sudden cardiac death. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Ofelia, and 5 children - Maryjo, Sofia, Monica, Rafael Jr, and Mariana. 

 In 2018, the Manzo family moved from Mexico to Hudson, Ohio for Rafael to pursue a work opportunity. The 3 eldest children stayed in Mexico to continue with college endeavors while the 2 younger high school children came with mom and dad. They are all deeply loved and involved in our community. They attend St. Mary’s Church and both of the kids play high school sports. Rafael Jr. will be graduating this year. 

We are compelled to start a Go Fund Me page in an effort to sustain this family through a difficult crisis until they can transition successfully on their own. 

 Since Rafael’s death, they no longer have an income and unfortunately there was not a life insurance policy in place. Ofelia is working diligently with an immigration attorney to file the correct paperwork for Visa changes that need to occur in order to keep the family intact here where they have a supportive community. Ofelia is well educated and the Visa change will allow her to begin to pursue a work opportunity with her master’s degree in education. 

 Realistically, all of these changes will take months. We have set our goal to cover two areas - their basic living expenses for 3-6 months and all costs associated with the family Visa changes, which includes possible travel to the consulate, filing and attorney fees.
