Valentine's Day Care Packages for the Homeless

I've put together a slideshow that goes into a bit more detail than what is shared on this page. You can view that here: Pi Lambda Phi Valentines Day Slideshow 2022
One of the most pressing social issues in Bloomington, IN continues to be the ongoing homeless crisis. When data was last collected in 2019, the United Way of Monroe County reported 243 single adults and 133 families experiencing homelessness in Monroe County. The ongoing pandemic has made it even harder on those who were already struggling. As college students we have the power to make a real difference through direct action, and what better way to do that than by going out into the community and giving those in need the supplies they require.

It's just under a month until Valentine's Day and Pi Lambda Phi is proud to announce it's first philanthropy project of the year: Valentine's Day Care Packages for the Homeless 2022
With your support, you and the brothers of Pi Lambda Phi can have an immediate and positive impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness throughout Bloomington by providing them with everyday necessities they need to thrive.
If reached, our $5,000 goal will be split up and used for two purposes:
1. $4,000 will be used to create Care Packages containing, food, personal hygiene products, clothing, and more which will be distributed to the homeless of Bloomington on February 12th/13th
2. $1,000 will be used to purchase larger items such as, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc. for the Shalom Center in Bloomington
- This $5,000 goal is flexible and has the potential to be moved higher if we receive outstanding support. If we reach our goal, I encourage you to still donate because the more money we raise the more items that can be included in each individual care package.
We will be taking donations up until February 11th, when we will purchase and gather all our supplies and create the Care Packages.
If you have any questions about this philanthropy event or want to donate in a way not listed, contact me and I’ll be happy to help! Thank you for your support!
