Love for Libby

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we reach out today to share the devastating news and ask for your support for our beautiful and funny friend Libby Linnum. She was recently diagnosed with leukemia after just finishing chemo and radiation for breast cancer this summer. It is believed that this treatment triggered AML.
On Monday August 28th, Libby went to the doctor because she hadn’t been feeling well for a week and noticed bruises all over her. An office visit turned into an ER visit where they told her she has an aggressive form of cancer called acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This is an aggressive cancer of the bone and blood that requires rapid treatment. Libby is expected to be in the hospital for at least the next month.
She began chemotherapy (again) Friday August 31. Her Oncologist said he had never seen such an aggressive cancer so soon after breast cancer treatment. The Oncologist also told her that this cancer will be significantly more difficult to treat than her breast cancer. Her current chemo is purple and Libby seems tolerable of this given her deep love for the MN Vikings.
Libby is the primary caregiver for their son Rand who requires 24/7 care. Libby is now unable to provide that care which has immediately decreased their income. Her husband Thor is currently trying to work from home as well as provide care for Rand. For Thor to be able to visit Libby, their other son Logan watches Rand while also starting his senior year of high school this week, as well as being active in sports. Thor exhausted all of his time off during Libby’s recent breast cancer treatment.
Libby has always been a caregiver to others. Even though she was providing care to her son Rand, on weekends off (when Thor was off of work to watch Rand) she would work as an unscheduled LPN at St. Luke’s hospital. She always makes life better for whoever she encounters. She has always been the fun mom coordinating so many activities for Logan and his friends: haunted hayrides, movies, sleepovers, and trips to the fair to name a few. She always brings the energy and humor, while making life better for everyone around her.
Libby didn’t want to ask for help during her journey with breast cancer, even though it was a long and difficult road. Knowing now how much harder AML will be to fight, she is ready to accept help and we are ready to give it. Please join us in supporting Libby, Thor, Rand, Logan and the rest of her family during this very difficult time. Financial donations are greatly appreciated and will be used to cover medical and living expenses.
Please help in anyway you can and let’s help support this family!!! Hope and Pray for Libby!
