Simon’s Stroke Recovery Fund

Hey Friends,
Last year before Christmas, our dad, unfortunately, had a stroke. After a couple of weeks in the Neuro Unit slowly recovering and regaining his strength, he made a lot of improvement and was ready to start rehab! The next step of his recovery was at an inpatient rehab center where he was re-learning how to walk and navigate his body in its new state as he continued to heal and adapt. We were excited about his progress and he was set to be discharged on Jan 17th!
About a week before discharge day, he had another stroke. This one was much more severe than the last and required surgery for a better chance of survival. We are so grateful for the success of the surgery and all the doctors and nurses at Albany Med, but the reality of this situation is that this journey is not over yet. As of this post, our dad is still in the ICU. His speech is impaired and the left side of his body is still paralyzed, leading to a longer recovery than initially hoped for. We have a hopeful outlook, but this crisis will put a surmountable financial burden on our family on top of the already difficult task of navigating this health crisis and fighting for his recovery.
We don’t know what this journey will look like, but we know that with the support of our community, we can get through it. We love our dad so much and want the focus to be on his healing. Thoughts and prayers are also appreciated during this hard time. Our family thanks you in advance.
