Help Chewie get his surgery

Hi everyone, my name is Cassidy and I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my Guinea pig Chewie. I adopted Chewie almost 3 years ago and recently around his 3rd birthday I thought he had a UTI so I took him to the vet to get antibiotics and eventually Meloxicam for his pain. As time went by he was still in pain when urinating and defecating.

Last week, I was able to get x-rays done for him at the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue with their visiting veterinarian Dr. Nenn. In the x-ray, you can see that he has a bladder stone that requires surgery to be removed. Deep down I was hoping it would be a small stone he could eventually pass but it's unfortunately not the case.

His veterinarian at Studio City Animal Hospital, unfortunately, cannot perform the surgery. At the moment, as a pet parent, I am researching the best doctor for him so he can be in the best hands possible. I was able to get pet insurance for him through Nationwide, (the only insurance company that will insure guinea pigs) but they will not cover/reimburse me for the cost as this is considered a "pre-existing" condition.

To some, it may seem easier to not do the surgery but Chewie... he is my little spark that has kept me going. Despite him being such a small animal, he holds such a big place in my heart. If you know me and have met Chewie, you know how much love I have for him and I want to give him the best life possible.

Although to some he’s “just a guinea pig, a rodent,” he is truly my baby. I adopted him in 2020 during the pandemic when I mentally and emotionally needed him and we’ve been attached ever since. Small animals like these have so much love to give and are so misunderstood, and as I’ve had the pleasure of being Chewie’s mom he’s shown me his personality and I love him with all my heart.

I am personally saving every penny I have, to pay for the surgery Chewie will be needing. Anything, absolutely anything will help to help cover the costs of his surgery. Chewie is my boy and I genuinely don’t know what I would do without him. If you decide to donate, I will be eternally grateful and so will Chewie.
