Yee's Breast Cancer Medical Support Fund

Earlier this month, our mom, Yee Lee was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Given the progression and type of cancer (Metaplastic Breast Cancer- MBC) our mom will be undergoing a mastectomy on her left breast this Friday, January 29th. 

Post-surgery our mom will not be able to work for 4-6 weeks and will need to undergo radiation therapy for the next 4-6 months until doctors confirm that she is cancer-free. MBC is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that is unresponsive to chemotherapy. Doctors hope to enroll our mom in some clinical trials once she is fully recovered from surgery. 

In addition to her health, my mom is most concerned about her medical bills. While my mother has insurance, her plan is one with a high deductible and high out of pocket costs. Already her medical bills are over $2200 in out-of-pocket costs-- and this was only in the last 3-weeks to find/diagnose the cancer!

Additionally, we are unsure how long she will be out of work post-surgery and during her radiation treatments. We have set up this fundraiser to help ease our mom’s concerns so that she can fully focus on recovery. Your donations will be used solely to pay for Yee’s surgery, recovery and any cost of living while she is out of work.

Those who know Yee, know that she is fiery and passionate-- and that attitude is exactly how she is also approaching her fight against breast cancer. Already, Yee is looking forward to recovery and hopes that the pandemic will be over soon so she can take her grandson to Disney World.
