Medical Expenses for Tonya

Hi, my name is Catherine and I am fundraising for Tonya Chansley. I have known Tonya for 15 years. Our friendship started working together as social workers for a hospice company in San Antonio. When I first met Tonya, I was amazed by her level of commitment to the social work profession in the care she provided to her patients. I thought to myself, "if I ever need a social worker I want Tonya or someone like her on my case" Tonya goes above and beyond in helping not only her clients but their families. I saw her compassion and commitment to those she cared for not only in hospice but in her current role as a transplant social worker.

Not sure how many know about Tonya's battle with a rare type of lymphoma cancer over the years because unless you asked or noted the areas being treated (with radiation) you would not know her struggles. She is someone that over the years gets her radiation treatment and the next day is back at work; ready to serve her transplant patients. Unfortunately, the cancer has now spread to her lymphatic system and her lung.

I am asking for support not only for Tonya but her mother. Tonya will now required chemotherapy to treat cancer. In the years that Tonya has fought her battles with cancer, she has never stayed away too long from her dedication to helping others as a transplant social worker. I am asking you to please consider helping Tonya and her mother with this fight! Tonya will be required to start chemotherapy and will not be able to quickly return to serving others as she has in the past.

This next phase will affect Tonya and her mother differently not only emotionally and physically but financially. Due to the type of cancer, her specialists are located outside of San Antonio in the Houston area which adds expenses related to travel, extended lodging, and out-of-network expenses.
