Yeppoon Seagulls Help Webb Park Get Lit
Keep the light on for Maurie
With a strong sense of community spirit, Yeppoon Seagulls Senior Rugby League is a well-established local club that values their past, present and future ties to the Capricorn Coast.
Established in 1968, the club boasts 12 premiership wins across the Rockhampton Senior and Extended Rugby League competitions. The Yeppoon Seagulls Seniors, and through it's close ties with Yeppoon Seagulls Juniors, has nurtured several past and present NRL stars; Harry Grant, Ben Hunt, Jonas Pearson and the People’s Immortal, Scott Minto, just to name a few.
Our hardworking committee has been fundraising and applying for grants at every available opportunity, with limited success we now need your support. Being dealt a blow by COVID-19, as many people have been, it has been one step forward and two steps back for this long and proud club.
Over the past 5 years the Seagulls have been working hard to improve their home ground, Webb Park. Through fund-raising, sponsor support and volunteers the club has erected a Club House with full gym below, extended the change rooms, built an announcer's box above new player benches and raised, levelled and re-seeded the whole playing surface. There is just one hurdle left to overcome to ensure the continuity of the current grounds at Webb Park.
The final, and most important improvement is to our lighting system. We are asking for your help to raise much needed funds to upgrade the lighting system to 250 lumens, as directed by the QRL.
If you live in Yeppoon and have children who play the sport - they will have or previously been using our grounds at Webb Park (Yeppoon Seagulls Junior Rugby League, Capricorn Coast Brothers Junior Rugby League, Yeppoon State High RAMS, Sacred Heart Primary School, St Brendans College). Could you help us out?
Old boys - remember the great old days? Mates, footy, beers....could you help us out?
Local businesses - your support over the years through sponsorship has been invaluable and we will always be grateful for your contributions....we make every effort to support our local business and encourage our members to do the same...could you help us out a little more?
The quicker these lights are installed, the quicker we can entice higher grade football to our grounds. QLD Cup and NRL games could be a local Yeppoon reality with the lighting to standard! Imagine how exciting Yeppoon would be with 34 NRL players and support staff in town for a weekend!
So....if you want to see our Club grow and you want to continue to enjoy the facilities we offer free of cost to the community, we would love you to connect with our Club and would appreciate any contribution you can.
Harry Grant

Harry is a dynamic and hardworking player who, we believe, is the next #9 for the Queensland Origin team. Youngest son to Margaret (inaugural Yeppoon Seagulls womens coach) and Paul Grant (player/coach of Yeppoon Seagulls 1988-2020, Capras player 1991), Harry began his career at a 5 year old with our Junior club. Always popular for his talent and work ethic, Harry progressed quickly and is now enjoying the benefits of his solid football foundation as he takes on the titans of football in the NRL.
Maurie Webb (Webb Park)
1925 - 2019
Maurie Webb has been a mover and a shaker in Yeppoon since he could walk and talk! A founding student of St Brendans College, he moved into his profession of education, teaching at the school he had received his education from.
Upon his retirement, he was elected to Livingstone Shire Council where he began to leave his mark on the local community.
Maurie joined the Yeppoon Seagulls committee in the 1970s and became President of the Club in the early 1980s.
Instrumental in the progression of the Club, Yeppoon Seagulls is the powerhouse of local rugby league that it is today due, in large part, to the hard work of Mr Maurie Webb.
VALE Maurie Webb.
