Yerevan Women's Choir fundrasing

Dear friends! We are the “Yerevan” Women’s Chamber Choir and we need your help to let the world hear our voices again.

The choir was founded in the 1970s by Artur Veranian and had performed more than 300 concerts throughout Armenia, other former republics of the USSR, Poland, Hungary, former Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Austria.

The Choir’s eclectic repertoire ranges from Armenian 5th-century sacred music by M.Mashtos, medieval chants by N.Shnorhali and masterpieces by Komitas, to European classics like J.S.Bach, W.A. Mozart, G.Handel and works of contemporary composers such as A.Melnas, N.Sidelnikov, D.Halajian.

Maestro Veranian not only founded and directed the choir, but also trained and educated many singers and choir conductors, and had an enormous influence on a whole generation of musicians. The innovative vocal technique he implemented has been acknowledged and celebrated for its uniqueness -- the Choir is a recipient of many international awards and prizes at European competitions in Tallinn (Estonia), Gorizia and Arezzo (Italy), Tolosa (Spain) and Marktoberdorf (Germany).

Today, 30 years after the Choir’s last concert, the choir members who are now musicians, medical doctors, registered nurses, teachers, bankers, linguists, mathematicians, physicists, and businesswomen, among others, are getting together to share the Choir´s legacy and its contribution to the choral tradition of Armenia.

We need your support to create a documentary about the Choir and to make it available to the wide public, thus preserving and sharing the heritage of this forgotten gem of Armenian culture and passing it to future generations.
