Open Heart Surgery

I said I would never do this, but here I am. Honestly because I'm scared.

 

Hello,

 

For those of you that don't know me my name is Brandy. I'm 30 years old and from Virginia. I have one truly amazing infant daughter and a wonderful boyfriend, her father.

We live in the small city of Portsmouth. I work for the City of Suffolk as a Commuications Operator in the 911 center I started in September 2021. I previously did the same with the city of Portsmouth for 4 and 1/2 years.

 

I was diagnosed with a genetic heart defect known as Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy around the age of 8. This disease progressively gets worse over time and thats why we are here now.

 

On September 5th, I started blacking out, having seizures and from what we have found out it is because my heart no longer has the capacity to pump blood around my body properly, and eventually can just give up anytime.

 

I have to have open heart surgery- a septal myectomy, on November 8th to hopefully help my symptoms, unfortunately there is no cure.

The recovery will be long and hard, and hopefully with no complications but sometimes those happens when you have to cut pieces of you heart out.

 

With no leave from work and unfortunately even with insurance, I have a large burden soon to come.

 

My whole life I was taught to never ask for help, even in the worst hardships but I have my family to think of as well as my healing and ive heard stress kind of hinders that.

 

I am blessed to have people in my corner to help physically with my recovery, but I was advised come financially, this was going to be the best route.

 

I'm not even sure if I'm asking for too much, or too little but literally anything helps.
