Early evening, yesterday July 19th around 4:30 the smell of smoke lingered the house of my family’s home. The home of father-in-law Luis Menendez and mother-in-law Elvira Romero. They tried searching to see where the fire was coming from but in just a few minutes the house filled with smoke. They called 911, ran outside and within seconds the ruff caught fire and blew up in flames.
This home is the home they worked so hard to build on their own not to long after coming to the United States. This home is where my husband Luis Menendez, Jr. and his sister Mary Menendez grew up. This is home they built so many memories in and now it’s all gone.
For now they will be staying with us until God provides a new and better path for them, but for now they have been left with only the clothes on their back. A friend also was living with them and has also been left with nothing. Anyone who is willing to help out is truly appreciated, right now what we do have is family, we have each other, but anything helps.
