South DeKalb County, Georgia is a mostly minority community that has unknowingly been exposed to some of the most toxic chemicals in America.
County officials have looked the other way for over 30 years as Environmental Justice issues have made this community more vulnerable to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It puts a real face on one of the key reasons why communities of color are more vulnerable to COVID-19.
We are starting this GoFundMe page asking for funds to help us pay for legal counsel, technical experts, to conduct environmental testing, and document additional evidence to support a Demand Letter that will be forwarded to the US Attorney Northern District of Georgia, The Governor of Georgia, and the State Attorney General of Georgia asking that they step in and make DeKalb County Government provide the citizens of South DeKalb County with Equal Protection Under the Law, resolve corruption issues, and take immediate actions to resolving the environmental nightmare we face every day. Our tax dollars truly have no voice.
The level of greed and corruption that has placed the community at risk is reflective of what is happening in our country today. We as citizens have to stand up in an organized manner and demand change. Our struggle is just one small example to show people who think they have no hope or power that they have all these things in them and more because of the goodness in their hearts.
