Help David Beat Cancer

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read our gofundme for David. We really appreciate it. Our dear friend, brother, son, uncle and Larissa’s partner in life is battling cancer. We see David being cheerful and positive in our office every day. He never admits to his pain and to the tremendous energy he expends each day as he receives his bi-weekly treatments, biopsies and minor surgeries. You can see him in the office discussing investments, walking the golf course with his friends, always asking how everyone else is doing with a fist bump or a hug and bringing the girls in the office flowers and donuts. We really care about David and appreciate his positive outlook and willingness to battle his cancer.

We are raising money to support David and Larissa as they move forward in this battle. David is currently receiving treatment through the BC Cancer Agency in Victoria for stage IV metastatic colorectal cancer, but will need an additional and expensive liquid biopsy test that will be sent to the United States. The cost of this blood test is not covered by the BC governemnt like the biopsies that have already been attempted. Two previous and painful laparoscopic biopsy procedures were unsuccessful in getting enough tissue to determine the pathology of his cancer. The blood test/biopsy is important because it tests a wide panel of cancer gene mutations, which if identified, means he may be eligible to receive more targeted therapy in addition to standard chemo - the more “layers” that can be added, the better. Also, knowing David’s cancer’s DNA would be required to participate in any clinical trials that may present themselves.

We want to ensure this test is completed quickly and David’s immediate financial needs are taken care of allowing him to focus on his health plan with his doctors, staying active and keeping his weight up, and his overall vitality.

Please join us in supporting David, Larissa, Terry, Bob and Jake as the blood test could make a significant difference for his treatment plan. All funds raised above the cost of the test (approximately $7,000 Canadian) will be used for medical equipment, treatment, travel, additional tests and any loss of income. There will undoubtedly be more unknown and significant costs on the way.
