Help Sasha Kislenko. Помощь Саше Кисленко

Donation protected
On behalf of Sasha’s mom, Natasha Kislenko, we are absolutely heartbroken to update you with the tragic news… The life-loving boy, talented, handsome, and kind, Sasha lost his courageous battle with cancer on April 4, 2022, at his home in Santa Barbara, CA, surrounded by his family. He would have turned 8 in May. We appreciate all the support and help the family has received during this difficult time.
Natasha hopes to raise awareness of pediatric cancer - diffused anaplastic Wilms tumor in particular. For many forms of childhood cancer, there has been little or no advancement in treatment options for over 30 years. The government only sponsors about 4% of research for pediatric cancer, which is absolutely insufficient. Today, there are still childhood cancers without any effective treatments upon diagnosis or relapse… There were nothing doctors could do for Sasha - there were simply no options left to try.

It would matter a great deal to all of us if donations are made in Sasha’s memory to these two organizations:
- Children’s Cancer therapy development institute, which studies Wilms tumor
cc-tdi.org
- Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation www.teddybearcancerfoundation.org

We are raising funds for my dearest friend and incredible (single) mom Natasha Kislenko. Her seven year old son Sasha was diagnosed with kidney cancer in the spring of 2020. He is now going through his second round of chemo therapy.

Sasha’s cancer is one of the rarest. After diagnosis, one of Sasha’s kidneys was removed immediately. Sasha, mom, and younger brother Philip then temporarily moved from California to Houston where he received care from some of the best pediatric oncologists in the world. Their time in Houston was a trial consisting of hundreds of tests, many nights in the hospital, weeks of nausea, exhaustion, and missed school and activities. In April 2021 - they finally got to “ring the bell” signifying the end of treatment. Sasha bounced back from chemo very quickly. His first scan in July was completely clear. Natasha and her boys returned to their home in Santa Barbara, where Natasha returned to her work as piano faculty for the University of California, SB.

Unfortunately, the scan from last month showed that the cancer had returned. The options for further treatment are now extremely limited.

The closest oncology center to Santa Barbara is located 1.5 hours away at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Every three weeks, the family must spend five consecutive days at the hospital.  As any parent knows, a three hour car ride five days in a row with a sick and nauseous child is simply not possible.

We are raising money to support Sasha and his family as they face this new challenge.  All funds will assist the family in paying for overnight stays in Los Angeles along with the many other expenses associated with Sasha’s care.

Please help this beautiful family in their time of extreme hardship.
