Support for Yodhi through cancer treatment and recovery

Dear friends near and far,

If you are reading this you are probably connected in some way to the wonder that is Yodhi. Amongst many other things, Yodhi is a very special human, a brilliant artist, loving mother, a loyal friend and facilitator of joy. We are blessed and lucky to have this soul in our lives.

This is an invitation to band together in support of Yodhi who is navigating a recent diagnoses of synchronous bilateral breast cancers. After an initial diagnoses of cancer in Yodhi’s right breast, a second primary cancer was found in their left breast during a preop exam. Both cancers were diagnosed as invasive carcinoma. The cancer on the right side has unfortunately spread into lymph nodes.

As many of you will remember, Yodhi has lived with chronic conditions since childhood (juvenile idiopathic arthritis/ RA with immunodeficiency) - and spent many years needing mobility assistance before beginning a new treatment in 2009. Yodhi has been taken off of treatment for the primary disease until cancer treatments have been completed. This brings added complexity to navigate through this process. Additionally Yodhi was given a formal diagnoses of epilepsy after experiencing an exacerbation of seizures late last year and has been advised not to drive until being 6 months without a seizure on treatment.

This news has come at an already formidable time having spent the last two years in recovery after a significant trauma. Consequently reserves are low and your help is truly needed at this time.

With a tenacious will and lust for life, Yodhi has picked up the gauntlet and considered a path forward. Although the idea of a well intentioned plan feels promising, the reality is that with it comes the fees for therapies not covered by insurance plus the cost of living while unable to work. The emotional toll while keeping the daily rhythm is a lot to hold and alleviating the financial burden is the key to lifting up our brave and magical friend.

Yodhi will undergo major surgery of bilateral mastectomies and clearance of sentinel lymph nodes. This is going to take time to heal and adjust to. Further interventions and treatments will follow.

The aim is to cover expenses for the upcoming year while Yodhi goes through treatment and recovery:

- medical fees not covered by insurance

-integrative therapies / healing and detoxification modalities

-living expenses while recovering from surgeries and undergoing treatment

-botanical based preparations

-travel costs to and from appointments and treatment sessions
