Ben needs surgery.

Hi All,

For those of you who don’t know me. My name is Mikayla Watson. I am a fur mama to Benjamin, My 6 year old boxer .

I’m sad to write this But my caring, bubbly boy, Ben is in need of corneal ulcer eye surgery within the next two weeks.

As some of you may know, less than two months ago Ben got a chronic indolent ulcer in his left eye and had to undergo surgery. These are also known as boxer ulcers. Because of the defect in the layers of the layers of the cornea, it prevents the eye from being able to properly heal.

These ulcers are common to occur in the opposite eye shortly after. Unfortunately Ben was dealt that card. And now has a chronic corneal ulcer in his right eye. Not only are these ulcers painful it once again is not healing. If this is left untreated he will result in going blind and or losing his eye.

After further discussion with our Veterinarian and due to financial reasons. We decided to undergo a minor surgery to cut back the edges of the ulcer in order for it to flatten and grow. Seeing as it’s been two weeks and we have hardly seen any improvement we have decided to go ahead with referral to the specialist at Toronto Animal Eye Clinic for surgery. This will be Bens second time getting surgery.

Dr. Travis Strong and the staff from Toronto animal eye clinic did an unbelievably amazing job the first time, keeping Ben comfortable and safe during all of our visits and procedures. I’m extremely grateful to have the resources and opportunity to take Ben to such a great clinic.

I am struggling to keep up with these surgeries and vet bills. The surgery itself is $3000 plus the cost of all the antibiotics and medications. Last month, I spent over $5000 for the ulcer surgery and vet bills to correct his left eye.

My goal is to raise enough money for him to get the surgery in the next two weeks. It is difficult admitting I need help. But I have to let my ego down for Ben. He the sweetest, most caring boy. My absolute best friend and I want to do what’s best for him.

I am looking for any assistance along our surgery journey the second time. There is absolutely no obligation to donate seeing as Christmas is around the corner. But any little amount will greatly help us!
