Yikes! We had an accident...

Hello. Well let me tell you our story about how we celebrated Labor Day weekend, my wife's birthday, and our 16th anniversary...
My spouse Dawn and I were in a car accident on 9/2 in AZ when we went to visit her Mom. We had been on the ground less than an hour when we were t-boned by a large truck that ran a red light. All I remember is seeing a tailight above our hood outside the window and then we were spinning.
I was care flighted to a Trauma One Hospital where they performed emergency surgery to repair my lacerated spleen, liver, and pancreas. They also found that I had a fracture of my L4 disc and multiple broken ribs. I spent 6 days in ICU and 9 days in Ortho. During that time I had another procedure where they put a stent in my pancreas because it was leaking enzymes. I'll have to have it removed in a month or so. I was just discharged on 9/17. My doctor anticipates a 2-3 month recovery period for me.
Dawn was transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital. She had a fractured left hip, fractured facial bone, stretched carotid artery, and broken collarbone. Whew. She spent 3 days in the ICU, 4 days in the regular hospital, and 6 days at rehab facility. She celebrated a birthday (I won't say what particular age it was if I want to have another anniversary) in the hospital alone. She was discharged 2 days before me. She still has to see a neurosurgeon to check on the carotid artery and the doctor anticipates a 2-3 month recovery for her as well.
We are now back in California at home with our fur babies. And, luckily, we made it back just in time to celebrate our 16th anniversary together. We are thrilled to be alive and so happy to have met so many kind and amazing people along this journey. Unfortunately, we have accrued, and will continue to accrue, massive medical and transport (of course we can't drive) bills. If you are able, we would appreciate any assistance you can give. If you can't, your love and support is more than enough! Love and well wishes ❤️
