Yipirinya School Accommodation - Alice Springs

Hello All,

I am asking for help to fund an excellent proposal by the Yipirinya school to build student and staff accommodation at their school in Alice Springs.

It is common knowledge that children in the remote communities of Central Australia are suffering, due to years of policy failure and neglect. Alcohol and other substance abuse, along with the hand-in-hand family violence that so often accompanies it, have led to a horrific situation where children are growing up without family units and guidance.

I have often thought coeducational boarding facilities, where a sense of community and belonging can be achieved, would be a way to break this cycle. I was so happy to see this proposal from the Yipirinya school.

This is an attempt by community leaders to help from within, in a manner that retains both cultural ties, protects children and has the potential to produce leaders of tomorrow.

This is the way to break cycles.

Please get behind these guys, it is one of the best proposals I have heard. It is up to us to support them; it is the least we can do!

For the record, I am not associated with the school, I live 2000 km away in Sorrento. This is an independent campaign from someone trying to help.
