The Persian House restaurant, which has been a part of the Portland community for 30 years is operated by a family of immigrants who arrived here in 1986 to live the American Dream, was vandalized and looted last night. The windows shattered, the handwoven expensive Persian rugs ripped off the walls and destroyed, thousands of dollars in damages and almost everything gone. I've known this wonderful family for 10 years and have seen them giving food to the needy and helping their fellow restaurant owners get on their feet. I could go on and on but I would run out of space.
During this pandemic, they have been closed for 3 months with no income and insurance will not cover all the expenses. I don't want their doors to close forever. We would be losing a piece of Portland and an amazing inclusive place to gather with friends and eat delicious food. Anything will help. Thank you all so much. Hi everyone, my name is Stefanie Nedu and I am the organizer for this page. I live here in the Portland metro area and I’m very close friends with this family. Sara, their daughter, and I went to college together and were roommates. These funds are going directly to Saras father, Shahryar Houranpay, who owns the restaurant. He will be using the funds to repair the damages to the restaurant and replace stolen equipment. If there is money left over, they plan on donating it to either The Urban League or NAACP. A huge thank you for your love and support. .
