Tami Jean Warrior Fund

Donation protected
If you are reading this you either know me, my family, or my mom- Tami Jean Amundson. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to catch you up to speed on my mom's cancer status and inform you of what her needs are. If you are inclined to support, we greatly appreciate your donation. God Bless!

November 2008, Tami Amundson was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She underwent chemo and radiation treatments over the coming months to fight off the cancer. The treatments took a toll on her, causing limited energy, body aches, and increased illness. She battled through the treatments and made a full recovery, being cancer free in 2012. However, in January 2017 the cancer came back, but worse this time around as my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Stage 4 because it is her second time having breast cancer and it spread into her lungs causing the sack around her lungs to fill with fluid, which made it difficult for her to engage in any sort of physical activity and have a comfortable night's sleep.

In January of 2017 she did chemo for a number of months and the doctors instructed her that she needs to do chemo every three weeks for the rest of her life. She didn't like the sounds of that, so she ventured out and pursued a more holistic approach. She discontinued her chemo after her strength was up and used alternative medicines and practices. That was good for a while... but the cancer came back more significantly, Tami’s lungs started filling with fluid more rapidly and she lost 18 pounds in 7 months (she's already a rather small woman). She got some scans and the doctor noticed the cancer has spread. From there she underwent intense chemo treatment for 8 weeks, one treatment per week. After the 8 weeks, the cancer diminished substantially, and her energy and strength increased. She continued chemo every 3 weeks to continue to fight the cancer, as well as other routine checkups to monitor the spread. Each checkup was brought with more and more good news, the cancer was shrinking and wasn’t spreading. She was also receiving positive results from her vitals, blood work, and other baseline tests.

In the fall of 2019, Tami went in for one of her routine checkups and received an irregular test result. The doctors ran additional scans and found that the cancer has spread to her brain. The news of the cancer spreading to her brain was brought with some heavy words. The doctors informed her and the family that she has 2 months to 2 years left, depending on what treatments she would go through. From there Tami underwent intensive chemo treatment for 12 weeks, one treatment per week, in the fall of 2019, and continued her chemo treatment every 3 weeks after the 12 weeks was up. The treatment stabilized the severity of the cancer that was now in her brain, and even removed the cancer in her breast and lungs. Tami again, regained her energy and strength after the intensive treatment and was able to live a more normal life.

Fast forward to April 2021, Tami was informed that she had roughly 90 days if she stayed on the treatment of what she was doing (chemo every 3 weeks, and other routine checkups). The news was brought with a difficult decision, continue the current path she’s on, or try another method to fight the cancer and extend her life. She decided to try another method, and will be undergoing alternative treatments over the coming weeks.

Tami’s spirit and attitude has been full of joy and gratefulness throughout this whole process, often singing, “It is well with my soul”. She loves so deeply, and cares so passionately for each and every person she encounters.

So, to bring it back to this GoFundMe...the purpose is to raise money to support her and the family for the treatments Tami will be going through. All her kids are out in the real world, meaning no extra hands to help her around the house- errands, appointments, cooking, etc. My dad has stepped in and as the caretaker of the family, it is difficult to manage work and be the good caregiver of my mom. He loves my mom so much and has served her incredibly well.

The funds raised will go to help cover the additional expense of the alternative treatments and the everyday expenses for their household to take the pressure off my mom and dad so they can focus on fighting this battle.

The fundraise goal is $20,000. We greatly appreciate your love, support, prayers, and donation.
