Help Us Protect Animals in Danger
Donation protected
The Amador County Animal Response Team (ACART) is an all-volunteer, non-profit group that provides emergency sheltering for pets and other domestic animals in times of disaster. Last year, ACART sheltered animals belonging to families forced to evacuate their homes when threatened by the Sand Fire, an event that burned over 4,000 acres and destroyed 67 residences and other structures. The service we provide allows animal owners to concentrate on the needs of their families in trying times, secure in the knowledge that their pets and livestock are safe and well cared for.
ACART operates under the direction of the Amador County, California Office of Emergency Services and the County Director of Animal Control. Although our members are certified as Disaster Service Workers, we are not funded by any public agency budget. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers and other concerned citizens to provide necessary equipment and supplies. As we begin what threatens to be an active and dangerous wildfire season here in California, we are in need of an enclosed trailer to house and transport those supplies and equipment. A secure, properly outfitted trailer adequate to our needs will cost approximately $12,000.
Please consider donating to our cause. We are a qualified 501(c)(3) organization through affiliation with the Community Foundation of Amador County. All donations are tax deductible and will be acknowledged in writing and on our website, http://www.amadoranimalresponse.org. Please visit the website to learn more about us.
Thank you.
