Get Izzy to Nationals!

Renton Rowing Center is thrilled to be sending our first youth athlete in program history to the 2023 Youth National Championships in Sarasota, FL! Isabelle Teal (AKA Izzy) raced hard at the Northwest Youth Regionals, and qualified to represent Renton in the Womens Youth 1x event at Youth Nationals, the highest level of competition a youth athlete can reach during the regular season.

Izzy is currently a senior at Liberty High School, set to graduate this June. She has been on the Renton Rowing Center youth team for an amazing 6 years , and is finishing her year as the 2022-23 season co-captain, a position that she was nominated for and elected by her peers. Izzy has been one of our most consistent and dedicated youth athletes to row at Renton, and will be rowing alongside her teammate and co-captain Amina at Seattle University in the fall. Aside from having a near-perfect attendance record at practice, she frequently organizes team bonding events with her teammates, volunteers with adult and youth Learn to Row classes, and advocates on behalf of her peers at coaches and Board of Directors meetings. Izzy embodies the mission of RRC and leads by example -- she is kind, welcoming, hardworking, and has the unique ability to rally her community for a bigger cause. As her coaches and teammates, we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and could not think of a better athlete to represent the RRC colors at this premier competition.

It takes a village to put a youth athlete in a position to qualify for Nationals, and then it takes a little bit more to actually get them there. In order for Izzy to have the support and resources she needs to succeed in Sarasota, we need your help! Between airfare to the other side of the country, wages for her coach, food, boat rental fees, and 6 days of practice and competition, this race is a huge financial undertaking. We want this experience to be as low-stress and low-cost as possible for Izzy and her family, and we're aking our RRC community to help us make that happen for the Teal family.
