Support Dylan's Family After Tragic Loss

Hello, I’m Dylan. I’m a 14-year-old boy who’s in 9th grade. On December 26, 2024, at 3:20 pm, I decided to go out on my scooter to a taco truck on 11th St Foothill in Oakland, CA. I was on my way to the taco truck on my scooter when three kids tried robbing me. I ran to a laundromat and asked for help, but no one would help me. While I was at the laundromat, I waited for them to leave. As I saw that they had left, I ran back home and told my dad. My dad decided to go out and look for them. He did not find any of them, but on his way home, he noticed and saw the three guys I had told him about. So, my dad picked me up from our house and took me to confront them about why they were trying to rob me. At that point, I was kind of scared because they had taken my scooter, and I had just run home to him. During the confrontation I tried telling my dad to just leave it alone. They had already taken my scooter, but the guys took it as a threat when my dad confronted them. We walked away and left it as it was, but they started following us and pointed a gun at us. My dad was shot in his heart and didn’t survive. I saw my dad fall to the ground in front of our house, choking on his own blood, and he died in seconds.
