Yolanda Salinas’ Road to Recovery After COVID-19.
Yolanda contracted COVID-19 in September of 2020, nearly nine months ago. Finally, after almost 302 days of hospitalization, Yoli is coming home!
Yolanda’s fight involved many trips to and from ICUs and many different facilities while fighting Covid-19. She has dealt with the unfortunate side effects of the virus for more than nine months. With the help of many medical professionals and her fight to keep living, she has recovered enough to continue her rehab at home!
We hoped that we wouldn’t need assistance, but with mounting medical bills and the cost of converting their master bathroom to something that can accommodate a wheelchair, we are asking for some help.
Although minor upgrades throughout the house (rails, ramps, etc.) may be necessary, the biggest concern is the master bathroom. Yolis bathroom needs the tub and shower stall removed and replaced with a more oversized shower stall accessible via wheelchair. There will need to be a complete teardown and rebuild of that bathroom.
Although Big Omar has had some contractors give bids to remodel their bathroom, he’s still open to additional offers. The current quotes so far range from $14k-$20k. Your donations will help lessen the burden on Omar and Yoli since both are retired and on a fixed income.
We understand that times are tough, and the last year has been tough on many, but anything helps. While we are hoping there will be some COVID relief available to help with the medical bills (including some CRAZY ambulance charges because the ambulance was “out of network”), our number one goal is getting their house ready for Yoli’s homecoming.
There will be challenges that will follow in her road to recovery. Yoli will need intensive occupational and physical therapy to help her regain the use of her arms and legs. Medical bills can be costly and overwhelming; we want Yoli to focus on healing.
Thank you for the continued prayers and support for Yoli, Big Omar, and our family. Your positive words of encouragement and check-ins have kept our spirits high and our faith to keep hoping for the best.
With love and gratitude,
