Yorkshire Three Peak's in Memory of Jezz Thomas

Some of my friends, family and I are going to be doing the Yorkshire three peaks challenge on Saturday, 23rd April; for those that don't know, this involves walking a total of 24 miles, during which we will ascend a total height of 4531 ft and it must be complete in under 12 hours.

 

WHY? My future son in law, Jezz, passed away at the tender age of 26 in October last year, despite Jezz undergoing multiple bone marrow transplants we were confident that he'd pull through and make a full recovery, sadly this wasn't the case. Jezz had battled an Immunodeficiency disorder all of his life and through treatment he lived it to the full. I have never met anyone that has thrown himself into multiple challenges often against medical advice because he wanted to push himself to the max. Jezz has left a massive hole in the lives of his fiance (my daughter Lauren), his family and his friends. We are all still devasted to this day.

 

On the day Jezz left us, I made a promise that I'd do something to help, something my friends and family could support on too, something that would push us to our limits, something that Jezz would be proud of and something that would raise money for a cause that could help prevent other families from having to go through the pain we have all felt collectively.

 

Jezz was a big rugby fan and played for Gateshead rugby club, and with this sentiment in mind we will be taking a rugby ball and his playing shirt to the top of each peak. He will be with us on this challenge that's for certain! :)
